Why coaching?

Successful EnergyTech Products is a 1:1 coaching program. Coaching is support provided over a limited - but renewable - period (often 3 months). It takes the form of a weekly videoconference between two individuals (the coach and the coachee). They analyse the situation and establish an action plan. Between two sessions, the coachee works autonomously on his company but has access to the coach to answer any questions that might block progress.As opposed to pure coaching (like in life coaching), where the coach doesn’t take a position, product coaching adds components of advisory, consulting, and mentoring.

Why DIY (Do It Yourself)?

Successful EnergyTech Products is a DIY coaching program. The coach initiates and supports a process desired by the coachee. Responsibility remains with the coachee, who also takes care of implementation with the internal teams. The coach doesn’t do any implementation work.

Advantages of DIY coaching
• The coachee learns and develops.
• The coachee implements a version of the framework that is perfectly adapted to the organisation, its culture and values.

How do I know that?
I’ve spent 10 years in marketing and 8 years in sales before entering product management.
My story
In my 30 years in technology, I was led by opportunity. One job led to another. There was no clear link. Each time I felt stuck, I moved on. I went from software development to customer training, presales, sales, and then marketing, until I ended up in product management.
This was when I saw the link: I covered the entire value chain from strategy to product, development, marketing, presales, and sales to services.
During that time, I worked in robotics, machine tools, telco, IT, and power distribution grids in big companies, multinationals, and startups.
My career is the house I built. The degrees in engineering and management are the foundation on which everything is built.
The ground floor is the experience in big companies, full of learning, surrounded by knowledgeable colleagues and corporate structure.
The first floor is the startup experience. Taking all that knowledge and applying it in a new setup. There was a lot of trial and error to find out what was working and what wasn't.
Finally, entrepreneurship is roof. There's nobody to tell me what to do and how to do it, except the market. This is the ultimate learning experience: defining the audience, the problem to solve, the positioning, and the messaging. Collect feedback from the market, just like a product manager.
My transformation
As a marketer, I struggled to put products on the market. Then, suddenly, I realised that the essential work happened upstream:
• No need to train and coach your salesforce if marketing doesn't do its job.
• No need to add another marketing campaign if the product doesn't meet a need.
• No need to build a product if there are no business goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the time commitment?You commit to a 1-hour session per week. To this, you’ll have to add the time it takes you to discuss and implement the frameworks with your teams. The implementation is likely to take more than 3 months if you want to work on the full transformation. As a coachee, you decide what you want to achieve (first). You also decide whether you want to go through all the concepts or focus on a couple of priorities. If you are happy with the results, you can extend the program and dive deeper into the concepts you want.
What if I cannot attend?We should both commit to a fixed schedule and stick to it. In exceptional cases, we can reschedule a call on another day/time or skip and add a session at the end of the program. Please inform us at least 24 hours before a scheduled call.
What videoconferencing software do we use?We use Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
What messaging software do we use?We suggest WhatsApp, Telegram, or Slack.
What’s the response time for the answers to my offline questions?The response time is best-effort, i.e. it can vary. You can expect an answer within 24 hours. The response time can be much faster during CET business hours.
What if I’m not satisfied? Can I get my money back?As per our refund policy, we want your SucessfulEnergyTechProducts investment to be 100% risk-free. Like most coaches, we give a 1-hour introductory session away for free. This session gives all the insights and allows you to ask all the questions you need to make an educated decision. The payment is due before the first coaching session. If you are not satisfied after this one, you can ask for a 100% refund, no questions asked.
When is the payment due?All payments are due upfront, usually as a one-off fee for 3 months. No coaching session is held without prior payment.
Can I test the coaching method first?No. We only accept upfront payment. If we would let you test for free, you would already get the full service. But we will go into all the details during the free introductory consulting session that you take before paying anything.
I’m interested in the concepts but I don’t have the time for implementation. Can you do it for me?No, our model doesn’t allow us to implement the concepts for each client. We also think that it is too strategic to be delegated to a third party. If you want to maximise the chances for success and long-term sustainability, you should take the lead on this project and execute with your teams. If your available time doesn’t allow for a complete implementation, we can go through the concepts and create ideas for later, or focus on a couple of priorities or low-hanging fruits first.
I think I can do this alone. Do I need you?Fine. No issue. None of the concepts is revolutionary and you can find everything on the internet. On the other hand, knowing what to do is one thing, taking action is another one. Many clients have tried different things but were stuck. They need somebody for support and advice. If you think you can do it on your own, feel free, go ahead. If you’re stuck, you can always come back.
